The Little Prince / Малкият принц

I just read "The Little Prince" (which I had not done for probably more than 8 years) and I do think you should read it if you haven't or have forgotten what it is about.

Току-що прочетох "Малкият принц" (което не бях правила от вероятно повече от 8 години) и смятам, че трябва да я прочетете, ако не сте или сте забравили съдържанието й.

To be sure, an ordinary passerby would think that my rose looked just like you--the rose that belongs to me. But in herself alone she is more important than all the hundreds of you other roses: because it is she that I have watered; because it is she that I have put under the glass globe; because it is she that I have sheltered behind the screen; because it is for her that I have killed the caterpillars (except the two or three that we saved to become butterflies); because it is she that I have listened to, when she grumbled, or boasted, or ever sometimes when she said nothing. Because she is my rose.


And he went back to meet the fox.

"Goodbye," he said.

"Goodbye," said the fox. "And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."

Разбира се, случаен минувач би помислил, че моята роза прилича на вас. Но тя сама е много по-важна от вас всичките, защото тъкмо нея поливах. Защото тъкмо нея поставях под стъклен похлупак. Защото тъкмо нея пазех с параван. Защото тъкмо върху нея убих гъсениците (освен две-три, за пеперуди). Защото тъкмо нея слушах да се оплаква, да се хвали и дори понякога да мълчи. Защото е моята роза.

И се върна при лисицата.
- Сбогом... - каза той.
- Сбогом - каза лисицата. - Ето моята тайна. Много е проста: истински се вижда само със сърцето. Същественото е невидимо за очите.
- Същественото е невидимо за очите - повтори малкият принц, за да го запомни.
